Open Calculate, choose the profile that matches the stock, select a material or enter a one-off density, then enter the required dimensions, length, and quantity. The result updates immediately. Use the expanded result to review mass per length, volume, surface area where defined, material cost, and allowance.

Switch the calculator from Weight to Required Length. Enter the target mass, quantity, profile dimensions, and material density. Metal Weight divides the target mass across the pieces and shows the required length per piece. Verify that the target mass includes the same allowance you plan to use for procurement.

Yes. Start with a metric or imperial preset, then enable advanced mixed units when the drawing combines systems. Imperial fields accept decimal values and common shop fractions such as 3/16. Changing the displayed unit preserves the underlying physical value.

Live calculations, required-length solving, all custom profiles, built-in materials, one-off density entry, manual price and allowance, surface area, text sharing, unlimited saved calculations, unlimited projects and project items, and the complete shareable Project Estimate PDF with a visible PREVIEW mark are free. Each PDF or CSV export supports up to 2,000 project items; saved projects and items remain unlimited. There are no ads, accounts, or trial countdowns.

Workshop Pro removes the preview mark from customer-ready PDFs and unlocks editable CSV export, project duplication for repeat jobs, reusable supplier price books, reusable custom materials and densities, and coating quantity and cost estimates. It is a one-time lifetime purchase, not a subscription.

Open Settings → Workshop Pro → Restore Purchases, or use Restore Purchases on any Pro screen. Use the same Apple Account that made the original purchase. SynapseCore cannot look up or move purchases because the app has no account or receipt server.

The public release does not bundle a published structural-section catalog unless its data can be commercially redistributed with clear source and revision information. Custom profiles remain available. This avoids presenting idealized geometry as an authoritative published section value.

Custom-profile results use ideal geometric formulas, the dimensions you enter, and the selected density. Real stock can differ because of grade, mill tolerances, corner radii, coatings, weld seams, deformation, and nominal designations. Treat results as material estimates; verify certificates and supplier data before procurement or safety-critical use.

Calculations, projects, prices, custom materials, and business details are stored locally in the app’s sandbox on your device. Delete individual records inside the app. Removing the app and its data removes the remaining local database; files you exported remain wherever you shared or saved them.

Use Settings → Report a Calculation Issue. Review and edit the diagnostic before sending it. Include the profile, every dimension and unit, density or material, mode, quantity, allowance, and the result you expected. Remove customer names, pricing, or other confidential information unless it is essential to the issue.
